Mrs Becky Hayter
Headteacher
Mrs Hayter is our Head Teacher and she believes that our school is a truly wonderful place to be. She has been at Bathford School for thirteen years and has taught Year 2, Year 6 and been our Deputy Head Teacher. Mrs Hayter studied English and French at Oxford University and has lived in France and Luxembourg. Before she became a teacher, Mrs Hayter worked for two of the ‘big four’ professional services firms in Finance and Human Resources.
Mrs Jennifer Keenan
Deputy Head Teacher & SENDCO
Mrs Keenan is our Deputy Head teacher and SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator). She also teaches Year 1 and Year 2. Prior to this she taught Classes 2 and 6 at Bathford. She leads the school in delivering the Thrive programme which we use to support our children’s social and emotional development and leads our amazing Opal play provision.
Mrs Sophia Matadeen: Year 6 Teacher
Ms Lynnette Baily: Year 5 Teacher
Ms Baily is our fantastic Year 5 teacher. She has taught at Bathford Church School for many years and brings a wealth of experience from teaching across Years 4 and 5. She is passionate about fostering creativity in learning, particularly through art, reading and writing, and loves inspiring children through wonderful texts that spark imagination, curiosity and a love of learning.
As our English subject leader, Ms Baily plays a key role in supporting reading, writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) across the school. She is also a history expert and enjoys bringing the past to life, helping children develop a deeper understanding of the people and events that have shaped our world.
Mrs Rachel Morcom: Year 4 Teacher
Mrs Louise McMullen: Year 4 Teacher
Mrs McMullen teaches in our Year 4 class for one day each week, job-sharing with Mrs Rachel Morcom, who teaches the class on the remaining four days. She is exceptionally creative and inspires children to produce stunning artwork, from detailed drawings and paintings to imaginative collages.
Mrs McMullen is also a published author. Her book, Fun Painting Projects for Kids: 60 Activities to Unleash Your Inner Artist, reflects her passion for creativity and artistic expression. She enjoys encouraging children to express themselves through both art and writing, helping them develop confidence, imagination and a love of creating.
Mr Stuart Thompson: Reception Year Teacher
Mr Thompson is our fantastic Year R teacher. He creates a warm, nurturing and exciting environment where children feel happy, safe and ready to learn. With his caring nature and infectious enthusiasm, he helps every child settle into school life and develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
Mr Thompson is passionate about engaging children through play, fun and hands-on experiences. His creativity shines through in the inspiring activities he plans, encouraging curiosity, imagination and exploration both indoors and outdoors.
As our PE and Design Technology (DT) subject leader, Mr Thompson enjoys helping children develop their physical skills, teamwork and resilience, as well as their creativity and problem-solving through designing and making. He is committed to ensuring that learning is active, purposeful and enjoyable for all children.
Ms Louise McCraw: Year 3 Teacher
Ms McCraw is our creative and nurturing Year 3 teacher. She is passionate about science and the environment and loves encouraging children to investigate and explore the world around them. Through exciting, hands-on learning experiences, she inspires curiosity and helps children develop a deeper understanding of the natural world.
As our Geography subject leader, Ms McCraw is enthusiastic about helping children understand the wider world, fostering a sense of wonder about different places, people and environments, both locally and globally.
Mrs Esther Hinde: Year 1/ Year 2 Teacher
Mrs Hinde teaches our Year 1/Year 2 class and brings a wealth of experience, having taught across a range of year groups. She is passionate about science and the natural world, inspiring children to be curious, ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of the environment around them.
As our Science subject leader, Mrs Hinde shares her enthusiasm for all things ecological across the school. She works closely with our School Councillors, helping them champion initiatives that encourage sustainability and energy saving, and empowering children to make a positive difference to the world around them.

Our Wraparound Club staff:
Billie runs our Breakfast Club which is open from 7.30am to 9am each day as well as our After School Club which runs Monday to Thursday from 3.15pm to 6pm each day. Billie is qualified to work with children and enjoys engaging with them and leading creative activities. Good use is made of our outdoor area, weather permitting!

Mrs Clare Bruce is our School Administration Officer. Clare loves all things admin and is a friendly face in the school office.
