Mrs Becky Hayter is our Head Teacher and she believes that our school is a truly wonderful place to be. She has been at Bathford School for seven years and has taught Year 2, Year 6 and been our Deputy Head Teacher. Mrs Hayter studied English and French at Oxford University and has lived in France and Luxembourg. Before she became a teacher Mrs Hayter worked for two of the ‘big four’ professional services firms.
Miss Lawton has worked at Bathford Church School as our Year 6 teacher and currently teaches our Year 2 class as well as being our Deputy Head teacher and SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator). Miss Lawton leads the school in delivering the Thrive programme which we use to support our children’s social and emotional development. Miss Lawton loves to be outdoors and is a keen hockey player.
Miss Lynnette Baily is our super teacher in Year 5. She has taught at Bathford Church School for three years, previously as our Year 4 teacher. Miss Baily loves linking children’s work to creativity, especially art. Miss Baily is our subject leader for English and she helps to support the school with reading, writing and spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG).
Mrs Matadeen is our fantastic Year 6 teacher. She recently relocated from Hampshire where she was also a Year 6 Teacher. “Running, dancing and yoga keeps me very active. I enjoy speaking Spanish and French. I’m passionate about teaching Year 6 and always aim to inspire, motivate and challenge them as they develop through their final stages of primary.”
Mrs Sarah Casey is our amazing Year 6 teacher. She has taught across several different year groups and has previously taught Year 5 at Bathford School. She always has a smile on her face and is very patient. Mrs Casey leads PSHE in school (Personal, Social and Health Education).
Miss Hannah Burgin is our Year 4 class teacher. She has taught at Bathford Church School for three years, previously as our Year 3 teacher. She has a great sense of team spirit and is our PE subject leader. She arranges lots of matches and competitions in different areas of sport. Miss Burgin is a keen hockey player herself and a fast runner!!
Dr Rachel Emmett is our Year 3 teacher. She has previously taught both Year 4 and Year 2 at our school. Dr Emmett is our leader for maths in school and she has been working with the Boolean Maths Trust in Bristol to help the school develop mastery in maths. Dr Emmett is also the person everyone goes to if they have something wrong with them because she’s a real doctor!
Mrs Kent is thrilled to be working in Year 3 this year and has previously taught in Year 5 at Bathford. She especially enjoys undertaking creative projects with her classes. Outside of school, she loves to spend time with her two children and they enjoy taking their dogs for walks and pottering around the lanes on their ponies.
Mrs Hart works part time in our Year Two class. She has previously taught across EYFS, KS1 and lower KS2 in Bristol. She loves all things creative and musical. Having moved out of the city, Mrs Hart can often be found running the trails of the countryside or finding spots to take a dip in the river.
Mrs Esther Hinde teaches two days in Year 1 with Mrs Morcom. She has taught many other year groups as well and is an expert on all things ecological. She works brilliantly with our school councillors to help the school save energy and is the subject leader for Science. Away from school, she can often be seen on her tandem bicycle!
Miss Katie Fairclough is our Reception class teacher. Miss. Fairclough has been teaching at Bathford School for two years and has been a Reception class teacher for four years. Miss. Fairclough absolutely loves teaching Reception class because every day is so much fun. She firmly believes that children learn best through play and through teaching that is engaging, interactive and imaginative.
Mrs Christine Davison teaches different groups of children from all age groups. She is an amazing musician and can speak French. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking – especially baking- and playing, singing or listening to music. She is also an active member of the All Saints Weston worship team and regularly takes part in services.
Mrs Jane Tucker has worked in many different year groups across the school and enjoys teaching all ages. She is an expert in science, art and DT – especially cooking – and she loves creative projects. She releases teachers for their PPA time.

Our amazing office staff
Mrs Susie Freeman is our Office Administrator and the main point of contact for day-to-day enquiries. She is often the first face that parents and visitors see when they visit the school. Susie also deals with ParentPay, club payments and administration, dinner money and daily registration of sickness and absence. Susie works from 8.30am to 4pm every day.
