Welcome to the Reception Class page
We introduce our children to the daily routines and expectations at school. We place a huge emphasis on kindness in our class and we strive to create a supportive and loving class community. The children will learn about our school ethos and how this helps to create our safe and happy school environment. This first year offers us as practitioners the opportunity to welcome our new starters and really get to know each child individually. Our knowledge of the children enables us to establish a nurturing and trusting bond which we believe helps every child to flourish at school. We look forward to the exciting year ahead!
Our Topic
‘We Are All Special’
ย Autumn Term 2ย
In Autumn Term 2, we explore the wonder of autumn and use our senses to explore our natural environment, taking part in forest school and class welly walks. The children learn about special festivals and times. Children develop their understanding of communities and discuss similarities between their own traditions and those of others. We dive into some wonderful stories and help the children develop their storytelling skills with rich language and whole-class role-play. Please find our term 2 overview below.

Our Early Years Vision Statement
Grow, Care, Serve, Share
This is a safe place for children to learn and grow; they are treasured and valued as individuals whose feelings, thoughts and beliefs are important and heard. The children in our care are all special and unique, this is shared and celebrated in our class. We encourage each other and kindness is at the forefront of all we do. Children learn how they can serve each other and the wider world through their respectful and thoughtful choices and actions. We instil positive learning behaviours by acknowledging every childโs efforts and achievements. Our curriculum sparks childrenโs curiosity and fosters a sense of awe and wonder. The teaching and provision evolves to reflect our children and their interests. We know children learn best through play, and therefore believe that direct teaching needs to be playful to reflect the joyful nature of learning. Our classroom is full of laughter and fun. We talk and share, we test and solve.
